Not a PC expert here, but I believe some of these apps rely on vram much 
more than system ram.? That was my case with Gigapixel and I upgraded 
the graphics card and amount of vram.? But then, in your case, Gigapixel 
is working OK, so I don't know.? From what I have read 4-8gb of vram is 
optimal.
