Thanks for looking.

I am sure she was shooting a video, that is what most people with a
cellphone do in these circumstances. Most (95%+) tourists in the National
Parks in India do not carry cameras with them when they visit - they come
to see wildlife, not photograph it. I am pretty sure that they have a much
better experience than we photographers do, what with our narrow, tunnel
vision thanks to our eyes being glued to the viewfinder, and missing the
wider and more expansive and meaningful view. For memories and to recall
the experience, a cell phone is just fine!

Besides, safaris in India can be done on a shoestring budget - each regular
safari, lasting 4-5 hours, costs under USD 20 each if there are four to a
vehicle and a day's lodging with three meals thrown in can be had for USD
40-50 a day in a clean, no frills lodge.
