We faced a similar question and bought an IMac with an M1 chip(wifes
computer). I would suggest just spending the coin to get a
compatible monitor as the chipset will support two monitors. I am using a
MacBook Pro circa 2017 with a circa 2008 Apple monitor as my editing
screen. Other than thunderbolt I vs III issues it all works fine.
