Greetings to all.  These are from a trip near Mt. Rainier.  I have always
admired the ability of life to find a way:

Probably blown down by the wind, I wonder how long this tree has been
decomposing:

If you go off trail in the forest, it can get pretty gloomy:

Probably second growth:

Even in favorable conditions it is hard to grow on granite:

I don't know what caused this sinkhole, there is no tree remains if it is
what is left of a root ball:
