Looking where the lrcat file was located, what is there now? Empty ? This
tells you the files were deleted (maybe)

Is there a trash bin that holds deleted files? Some place that holds the
trash until it also is deleted. What you are looking for may be there.

The sidecar files are a very large number. One file per image. They have
nonsense names. On my Windows machine, they are in a separate folder. Can
you find that folder?

A way to find them is to list ALL the files on the entire computer,
including all external drives. . Then look for a whole bunch with weird
names that make no sense.

Finding the files will allow you to pit them back where they belong.
