James Brown, considered the ?Godfather of Soul,? performed in Amarillo
in July, 1968. His music is perhaps more appreciated now than then, in
conservative Amarillo.

Already fascinated by broadcasting, I was more familiar with the
microphone, an Electro Voice 635, long a mainstay in television remotes. It
is sturdy enough to be used as a hammer and also is used by the BBC to
record Big Ben.
