18 years in the cask is more for the label than the taste. Most whiskey
seems to have an optimal age...ten years for Talisker and Edradour,
eighteen for the MacAllan...beyond which extra aging adds very little to
the flavor. Indeed, whiskey that has spent too many years in the cask
more often loses rather than gains character.

Yeah but the 30 year old one might be tolerable as entry level for a
malt
