Basically I said it'll never happen!

Hi Kit,
Yer right! And given how fast electronic thingies change so quickly these
days and faster in the future I suppose "never happen" was a little too
strong.

however, I meant that with the design of the M camera body and it's lenses I
understand from our learned colleagues " that today's technology" wont allow
for a digital insertion in the present body.

So on that basis "never happen" seemed appropriate.

However, if some very bright eyed designer came up with an M body style so
close to the present film camera, the measurements were almost undetectable,
yet could contain the micro bits and pieces for digital. I imagine it would
become an on the market camera very quickly.

On the other hand here's something to think about regarding present digi
cams on the market.

First of all put the "Leica lens" aspect aside for a moment. Then look at
the Canon G5 5mg, redesign the body into about the size of an M body and
feel, improve the VF slightly larger that's all. Well it could shorten the
lag time and bingo you have an "M style / shape digi cam over-night!"

It's already an excellent proven camera and without screwing around with the
guts here's an "M shape" body at a reasonable price before the Leica folks
have woke up to a new day.

Actually if Canon were to do something like this, made it 6mg with a slight
increase in price, the Leica folks might as well stay in bed.

Just a thought. Possible ? Hey who knows maybe it's on the drawing board as
we speak. ;-)
