Are you certain of this?  Zeiss Ikon trumpeted far and wide the presence of
Contarex cameras on the Gemini flights and used a bunch of the photos in
their adverts of the era, but I cannot recall any reference to any use by
NASA or any of the Astronauts of a Leica.

Glenn's camera was not a Leica:  it was his own camera, a Petri or somesuch.
