That certainly hasn't been true for Hasselblad and Minox items I bought from European dealers. They were about %40 (on average) less than I would pay for the same items here in the US! It costs me about %10 for bank fees and shipping, so I save about %30 overall. I can't say for Leica, since I've never bought any Leica gear from Europe, only from here in the US and from HK.
