I must admit that I was taking pictures of people and not architecture but below are some images that reflect NY when it was building it's capital building. In the basement you will find some arches that would find themselves at home in Roman times even though the capital was completed in 1899" http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/basement+arches.jpg.html A late addition although he was governor during completion: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/Governor+Roosevelt.jpg.html This staircase is near the assembly person meeting room: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/interior+staircase+NY+state+capital.jpg.html This is a view from a landing on the grand staircase: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/view+from+landing+Grand+Staircase.jpg.html Overlooking the assembly chamber; what you don't see is the gilt ceiling or the false fireplaces for private conversations: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Monday+Misc/viewing+gallery+overlook+NY+assembly+room.jpg.html All the best. -- Don don.dory at gmail.com
