It is not the latest/greatest/fastest, but always one generation old, as I do not require breakneck speed for my gaming, and this works well for image processing as well. I am running an AMD/Nvidia combo that is about 6 years old, but as Frank said, it has a maxed out 64GB RAM that keeps it working well for LR Classic and Photoshop. My RAW images reside on an internal HDD for accessibility, and the finished TIFF images on an external HDD. SDDs of the size I require for data storage (12 TB minimum) are not cost effective as yet. Everything else inside the box runs on separate SDDs - Operating System on one, Applications and Lightroom Catalogues on another, and a third handling the Windows swap files and Photoshop's scratch disk. The power to tailor machines to precise requirements, as well as the ability to upgrade in stages, is too big an advantage for me to lose, and my requirement for a machine that is also good for gaming means that MACs are a non-starter for me!
