I lived near Amsterdam in the early 2000s and felt almost obliged to go to the exhibition in Oude Kerk every year. I finally stopped because I was fed up with the negativity. It is ambulance chasing disguised as photography. I much prefer some of the national ?press photo of the year? exhibitions, like Denmarks ??rets Pressefoto? which tend to focus much more on everyday life.
