This series comes from a wall in Overland Park Kansas located in the old main street. The greater Kansas City area was home to the Pawnee and Shawnee tribe predominantly and on the Kansas side was home the the Shawnee Mission school whose aim was somewhat the same as the Canadian schools but possibly less coercive. In any case we start with a stylized image: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Austin+Signs/gift+giver.jpg.html Kansas City sits on the edge of the Eastern Forest and the plains that extend just to the west. The native housing resembled the eastern rather than the western: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Austin+Signs/Native+themed+eastern+US.jpg.html I am not sure about the context of this image but it is part of the panel: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Austin+Signs/Peace+and+harmony+with+nature.jpg.html While a poor position this does provide a bit more context to the series: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Austin+Signs/interconnected.jpg.html All the best. -- Don don.dory at gmail.com
