Just back from a week camping so maybe you have solved your problem.? I 
get the digest, so cannot see any newer replies.

You can get a new battery for them and it is easy to replace. But it 
should have some sort of indicator light to tell you the battery is not 
up to snuff anymore.

I find it a mystery why the drive letters change.? When you change your 
drive letter are you doing it in the disk management section of the 
control panel or just in the file explorer window. I would go to disk 
management and make the letter change there and see if that works.
