Before going to Varanasi, Neela & I were at Bandhavgarh National Park to
photograph tigers - guides and drivers there refuse to believe that any
other wild animals are worth stopping for. We were on three full day
safaris, which have three advantages:

- Dawn to dusk access to the park

- Zone Free, so the whole of the Tourist Zone is accessible

- Entry 15 minutes before and exit 15 minutes after the normal safari
vehicles (very important in the morning as fresh pug marks are accessible
for tracking before a multitude of vehicle obliterate them)

So without much ado, here is a series of photographs of a tigress called
Dotty at the Magdhi Zone of the park - her entourage includes two strapping
cubs, and a very odd extra - a 3-4 year old male tiger, who is allowed to
hang around with her by the dominant male of the area - we did not see any
of them, though. We saw Dotty twice, both times in the mornings - a short
sighting on the first day, when she was grooming herself, saw us and loped
off into the forest and a long one the next day, very magical, with the
whole forest enveloped in mist, from which she suddenly metamorphosed in
front of us.
