The weather patterns are changing in that region as well, because in what traditionally used to be peak migration time there was not a single wildebeest to be seen in the main Mara - only some herds across the river towards Tanzania. This was because of the ample rainfall in Tanzania, so the migratory herds were returning earlier on their trek south from Kenya.
