Subject: [Leica] Nathan's PAD 3/7/2022: sometimes a detour is not bad

On Saturday my wife played in a golf tournament, at La Mange Golf Resort
near Cartagena, about 140 km from Alicante. We decided to make a weekend
getaway out of this, and spent 2 nights at a nice hotel right next to the
golf course (our balcony was facing the green on the 18th hole). I was the
driver and trailing spouse, but thanks to having a decent-sized car, we were
able to bring my bike with us in addition to my wife's golf stuff and other
baggage, and I went for rides both Saturday and yesterday.

Yesterday's ride was going to be a relatively short 27 km affair, getting
out at 7 a.m. But when I was planning the route, Google neglected to tell me
that a section of about 4 km on my planned route was unpaved and completely
unsuitable for my road bike with skinny tires. So the ride turned out about
12 km longer than planned since I had to take a longish detour. But there
was a nice side effect. I passed this sunflower field in lovely morning
light:

In the far distance you can just make out the ugly urban sprawl of hotels
and vacation apartments on La Manga.

Cheers,
Nathan
