I had migrated to a Drobo 5N series and was quite happy with a Raid 2 array
and the ability to hot swap drives and had done that progressively to
increase my memory.

However, when I migrated to an Apple Mpro computer the Drobo was no longer
readable. I switched to a LaCie Raid setup. The consensus of the Drobo
community is to switch to Synolgy as Brian suggested.

I used my old computer to transfer my 10TB to the new drive, disconnected
the old drive, then renamed the new drive to the name of the old drive.
The new computer picked up the new drive and was seamless as far as
finding files out of PS and Lightroom. This is in the Apple universe but I
suspect Windows would be similar but confirm before you travel that path.
