The farmhouse reminds me of my elderly Aunt's home.  The bathroom, with
running water, was carved from a room on the back gallery.  It held a large
tub, sink, and the only toilet in the house.  Yes, entrance was achieved by
going outside to get there, and once you were inside, there was no heat in
a 15 x 15 x12 room.  Extremely drafty.
