At last..the end is near! (-:
To start, two newborn Grant's gazelles - one a day or two old, another a
minute or two old. Newborns stay absolutely still, and emit no smell to
evade predators. As Big Cats see in B&W, movement and smell are essential
for them to notice prey. In a previous occasion in the Mara, I have noticed
a Cheetah pass within 15 feet of a newborn Tommy and not notice it:

I have found that touch is a very important sensory input in the
mother-child bonding in lion prides, even after the cubs are reasonably
grown, but it takes many forms:
