I am not that familiar with what l'Espagne profonde would look like but
these two pictures translate the idea perfectly, specifically the first one.
"Regarder la France profonde dans les yeux ...", a thing any serious
politician in this country is - vainly - trying to do to get a good share of
the votes! Maybe this is also true of Spain? Anyway, the tale of two worlds,
the rural vs. the urban, is I think still true today - and the gap is
