Have you noticed any degradation?
I suspect that whatever is used for the backlighting will change in
time. Flourescents, which is what used to be used certainly do and
also LED's. Some LED's dimmed quite rapidly, and current LED lights
seem to last longer, but the manufacturer's claims are still a bit
suspect: "A new type of LED that won't dim". And how long has it been
out, and how has it been tested? Theoretically there could be LED's
that don't dim, but electronics in general shouldn't fail either.
