Collapsible Summicron I would still put a filter. If the lens is
unscratched, and the only way that lens could still be clean and
unscratched after 50 years is if it has been behind a filter (or
unused), then either put it behind a filter again or send it off to
have the exposed surfaces recoated with a modern coating.
As others on this list will attest, I am strongly against using
'protective filters' without good reason, but in this case protection
is necessary. All it takes to seriously damage that coating is a
couple of cleaning wipes, and then you will have to have it recoated.
