Ayup... and inside those NAS's are hard drives, which are connected to the 
NAS control circuits by cables.

And when those cables vibrate enough from the several case fans to make the 
connections go intermittent, pretty much everything that depends on that 
hard drive goes just a little flaky.

And when the drive is the OS/Boot/Programs drive....

Trust me.  I have been THOROUGHLY trained by several of the best.  Bastet is 
a frequent presence in my universe.
