it's possible that your card reader doesn't work with the SD card,
especially if the card is a newer SDHC type and the reader is fairly old.
I have a card reader that refuses to read SDHC cards and another (a
Sandisk) which will read anything I throw at it. I also had the same
problem with my Jobo Gigaview portable HDD - it reads non SDHC cards,
but not newer ones.
Thankfully, card readers aren't too expensive and it might be worth
getting a new one to see if that fixes your problem.
I hope you resolve the problem soon - I can imagine how frustrating it
is to have a new camera (especially an M9!) and not be able to see the
images.
