Yes you can; just as easily as on a IIIg.

The point that others were making is that a Viso II, and even more so 
a Viso III are much better on M's from a practicality point of view, 
but I used a Vis I on a IIIg and Ig for many years both with a double 
cable release and the little cable that allowed pre-release of the 
mirror for greater ease in handheld use.

Clearly, if you have a Viso I then just use it on whatever bodies you 
have. If you think you like the basic idea but would like something 
more elegant, look for a Viso III.
