My approach in a similar situation (not with Leica) was to cc: a copy of my
demand letter to the CEO of the parent company. After I did that the
distributor, who initially ignored my calls or fobbed my off on an dead-end
office minion, suddenly decided I wasn't going to go away quietly. He called
me and did what they should have done to resolve the situation from the get
go.
