Strong flour, yeast, a little fat, some salt, sugar and water is all
bread contains. It just takes a little planning and some patience.
Since I learned to bake bread in June, I don't think we've bought a loaf
of bread from a store.
One of our Christmas highlights was a home-baked stollen: even the
almond paste (marzipan) for the centre was home-made. It tasted really
good!
I'm getting the hang of pastry now as well, having made the mince pies
(and the mincemeat filling) myself.
