This is not really true. The flange to sensor
distance is exactly (within film flatness
parameters) the same as the flange to film
distance.
The mount on the M8 is a bit further out from the
body because the sensor is moved forward withing
the body to allow for the thickness of the sensor
pack plus the LCD screen and electronics, and
Leica did not want to increase the body thickness
any more than it already did.
The M8 release is not in the same position
relative to the flange/lens axis as on the film
M's, so the lever and release screw do not hit
the M8 release button absolutely correctly, but
this is completely irrelevant to the focus issue.
If the focus is correct on the Viso screen for
one shot with one lens, it will be correct for
all lenses at all distances.
