[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]Thankyou Douglas, I am almost ashamed to say that I have no software,
printer, or scanner to post my pictures. I am still entirely film, and
things are just so busy work wise, and I am lucky living here in Birmingham
in that there are two very good labs who still offer traditional processing.
The one lab ( Palm ) is run by two enthusiasts one who is a Leica user, and
he does an excellent job on my B+W prints. Having said that I really need to
drag myself into the 21st century ! Your pictures, and others I have seen on
LUGers are just so good, but I do love the feel of film. One other thought I
always buy one of the steam mags each month which then go in the recycle
bin, if you are based in Germany, I would be happy to post them on to you
when I have finished with them. Best wishes Phil. P.S. My wife and I are off
on a weeks holiday to North Norfolk tomorrow, I am looking forward to having
a look at the North Norfolk railway we are staying quite close to
Sheringham it will be my first time in that area.

Hi Phil,
I generally apply a bit of "Clarity" in Lightroom 2.4 (it's a kind of
local contrast tool) and sharpen a little until I like the result. I
also use the brush tool or the graduated filter to correct the exposure
of the sky (I must buy a grey grad filter someday, it's always a problem
with wide-angle lenses). Then I crop until I like the composition.
I usually use CS2 only for perspective correction and a couple of bits
and bobs these days - BTW, there are some wonderful free plugins for
Windoze from a bloke here in Germany available at
http://www.vicanek.de/plugins/wireworm.htm
he is a VERY clever lad, take a look at his animated sequences showing
how his software works - great stuff.
Most of these were shot with Leica lenses between 21 and 35 mm or a
Tokina 12-24 zoom (a superb lens), mostly on Leica film (R5 and R7) and
Canon DSLR (300D and 20D) cameras.
I shoot Kodak Elite Chrome 50, 100 and 200 slides and scan them with a
Coolscan V ED.
Cheers
Douglas
