Thanks Jan. It's a Summilux pre-ASPH (I thought it was ASPH and posted that 
previously, but I was mistaken). 
The lens isn't coded, had a UV/IR filter, lens detection/UV/IR option on, 
auto white balance and auto ISO up to 1250.
The images are pretty much right out of the camera, into Lightroom and out 
to the web without any changes.
So yes, an amazing camera. 

Too bad Frank and Vic don't  have one...

Bob,
Your Seder 2009 pictures are all very impressive shots.  What lens did you
use on the M8?  Summicron or Summilux...? Vibrant colors and very sharp in
the plane of focus.  Did you use auto white balance or a tungsten setting? I
guess this is the kind of situation the Leica was made for.
