My recollection of Leica marketing materials from roughly the late-70's was 
that they said that Leica lenses were multicoated where it makes the most 
difference (i.e., potentually improving image quality), but that they were 
not necessarily multicoated on every surface.
Newer lenses seem to have more multicoating than the older ones.
