Certainly my experience as a:
photo silver printer
intaglio printer
silk screen printer
stone lithographic printer
and commercial press proofer
influence my views on, and approach to inkjet printing.
Yet, we didn't have to apply wet emulsions to wet plates
to appreciate our work in the darkroom.
Each era of photography
offers the young pups
their opportunity
to apply the crafts
of their era.
My concerns (for the young) rest in "auto"
delivering something
quite technically competent
(this was not the case in our day,
so we had to learn craft).
While digital does require craft
to get the absolute best out of it.
Pretty damn good seems possible
without much knowledge or application of craft.
Fond regards,
George
