notes for the "Spinal Tap" album - "though neither a critics' nor fans'
favourite, Tap continue to fill a much-needed gap", from memory. Sounds like
a Marxism to me, though - anybody know better?

A friend of mine is fond of the construction, `thus-and-such clever
innovation "fills a much-needed gap"'. I'm not sure where he originally
got it from. Remarkably many gap-fillers don't listen closely enough to
realize they weren't complemented.
