Gene,
         I think that the background is a little red, but it may be 
the cherry wood cabinets.  Otherwise I do not see the purple 
shift.  I do not have a filter and the firmware is 1.06.  I have seen 
purple color to black clothing and have observed the banding from 
bright lights, but do not see it with these candle shots.
