It is indeed... are there any among us who realizes the 'perfect' 
camera has not and will not ever be made?  Unless you pay a king's 
ransom for a one-of-a-kind special-built model there's always going to 
be some kind of compromise.  I'd love to have an SL-quality viewscreen 
in the R8 but that would mean a fully-silvered main mirror and no 
matrix metering.  I can live without matrix metering but what about the 
vast majority of R8/R9 users?

These things are always compromises in one way or another.  Deal with 
it, make it work for you or find another camera!  The compromises Leica 
makes when designing a camera are intended to make the product appeal 
to the broadest subset of their target market.  Not perfect for Joe 
Average but close enough to ideal that it will sell in large enough 
numbers to recoup the development costs and then some.  You want 
perfect?  Talk to your favorite repair technican, send him/her a camera 
that's pretty close to your ideal, and open your wallet.
