A Nikon rep had one of these to show, but by the
time I got to see it it had had an accident. It
had dropped on its face and besides a number of
crocks a chunk of glass about 2 inches in
diameter had broken out of the center. Made it
very easy to see the basic shape and construction
of the front element. :-)
I rented a 6/5.6 once. Same angle of view as the
2.8, but you needed the accessory 'guess' finder
and mirror lockup, and it's a whole lot smaller.
It was decent, but the quality did not seem as
good as the 8/2.8 or even the 7.5/5.6.
