You have phrased the angst perfectly. I truly have no difficulty
picking up a digital camera and making it produce images, but it is like
using a block plane with a slightly mis-sharpened blade, the feel is not
the same. I suppose it is the comfort level with a well used tool, you
know exactly how it will work in almost any situation and automatically
adjust for the quirks.

Subject: [Leica] nostalgic for film

Count me as "nostalgic for film" while "embracing digital revolution."
One foot in each. Still prefer the 'look' of film. Still love looking at
slides with a loop. While perfectly comfortable with the Canon digital
with or without Leica glass or Canon glass. When I pick up the M's with
b&w film in them - I feel like - well - this is where I'd like to be.
The clients aren't me. They not only want, but need, the digital files.
The paying work is for print. The labs are set up for digital. The labs'
quality with digital surpasses their craft with film (the youngsters at
the labs hardly have memory of printing from negatives, most never heard
of cibachrome). I feel like a buggy wip maker.
