[Leica] Remembering the Reagan years

Boris Yeltsin was nearly kicked out of office by an old guard coup but this
was after Gorbachev had effectively killed the USSR anyway.  According to
the World press, he averted it by the single act of standing on a tank
outside the parliament building.  Not a terribly accurate description but it
made a great "decisive moment" and one that many PJ's would die for.

I think they tore it down during Bush Sr's reign. Didn't the Soviet
Union fall apart after a failed coup?

He was President at the time - no more , no less. I'm sure Gorbatschow 
didn't" tear down this wall" just because
Reagan said it in Berlin.
