Mark,
It's a very simple rule: "NEVER WORK ON THE ORIGINAL!"
Make a copy and have a go. If it doesn't work, start over with step 1.
(Make a copy).
And Canon's RAW format works the very same way with Photoshop. Though
you'll need Photoshop 8 (CS) to work with the latest crop of cameras
like the EOS Digital Rebel.
