Basically digital camera is used by pro as a backup, to make additional 
photos of the event. Shutterbug Magazine  usually gets to the same 
conclusion you describe.
Digital camera is a technological junk. Anywhere the technology is old: 
battery pack, slow memory, scanning chip, weight… Of course if the price is 
right ~100$ I may be tempted, and use digital as a backup or learning camera 
and trash it after half a year.
