Your pictures are stunning, as always. I was thinking of a different
situation - using a 180 or 200 mm lens, in the middle of the action, 2 to 10
meters away from your subject. It might be harder to work with a shoulder
stock in that situation.

I use actually three Canon zooms with Image Stabilization and it allows to
"everybody" to take pictures at least two stops slower than usual. I,
myself, can use a 400 mm at 1/15 sec handheld with a big average of sharp
images. Without any doubt is a good characteristic. However it does not
grant any improvement of the lens quality.
