Some may have noticed that I have been mostly lying low for the past week.
Like everybody else the events of 911 effected me to. I have felt this kind
of thing coming for a long time, I read newspapers, national and
international, on a daily basis and have felt world tensions on the rise.
And with the upcoming WTO/IMF protests a couple weeks away in Washington I
posted for my wk36 PAW this protest picture, "Convert the War Machine":

Then four days later came the World Trade Center/Pentagon attack. I felt
devastated and helpless. So I needed some time to think.

I spent time thinking (maybe I do that to much) and in particular about my
photography, my kind of photography which by now most people who have been
following my PAW realize that what I mostly do is Street Photography. And I
asked myself, why do I do Street Photography for many years now? I knew what
the answer would be. Because of the confusing state, to me, of world
affairs, I know that I take pictures of complete strangers because somewhere
in those pictures there is an answer, if only for me, as to why we all are
what we are.

This weeks PAW is from a street festival last week in Washington. There were
many people from every race and country in the world. All rubbing shoulders,
laughing, having a good time, being polite to one another, all sharing a
space in time. Then two days later..............

So here is some music for this week:

I would also like to sincerely thank the people who wrote me off-list to ask
if I was okay. I am okay, a little sad but knowing that all of us have to
move on and somehow be better.
