There is almost no difference in the tension of the shutter drum springs
cocked or released so it does not matter if you store the camera cocked or
not. What does matter is that the shutter gets fired at every speed setting
at least once every three months. This keeps the lubricants from separating
and gumming up the works. (Source: Leica)
