Though slide film has some advantages, it also has a major disadvantage,
depending on what you want out of your film.  Slide film must undergo a
reversal process, and as such, makes it "softer" than "similar" negative
film.

If you are scanning, in order to get the entire density range from the
slides, your scanner must be able to accommodate the wider density range of
the slide film.  Your exposure latitude is also narrower, so you best get
your exposures right on.
