Harry:
 From a needs standpoint, I didn't need a Leica. I wanted a Leica! And
always have; after all, this is a hobby, right!? I have a 3.5E2 Rollei, a
Medalist II, and a Minolta X700 with a variety of lenses and sundry other
cameras. I was a lurker on the LUG for a year before I bought any rangefinder.

For rangefinders, I started with a Tower 3F from a small local shop to see
if I was suited to a rangefinder. It was cheap and came with a pre-war F2
Summar. From there I replaced the Summar with a collapsible Summicron,
vintage 1952/53. Now I was hooked into rangefinders! Finally, after
perusing Shutterbug ads for months, I plunged for an M2 with a Summarit-M
at a price I thought reasonable from George Ury, a mailorder dealer now in
Winnetka, then in Naperville. I wanted an M2 for the 35mm VF
capability. It is a fine user, mechanical great, but missing two small
pieces of vulcanite noticable only if you're looking for them. I purchased
a Voightlander VC meter which is useable on both cameras. As is evident
with other Luggers, lens lust set in. I have added an LTM 90mm Elmar F4
and (shame, shame) a perfect black Voightlander/Cosina 35mm F2.5. I really
wanted a 35mm Summicron, but for $275 with viewfinder, I couldn't really
pass it up. Now if I could only get moving on the darkroom.

Regards,
Carl
