 My comment above was made regarding Austin's assertion that Leica gear
costed more in the U.S. than anywhere else, which is simply not true.

Forget international currencies.  Use the Big Mac standard.  The bean
counters at McDonalds have laboured long to determine a basic price for
their hamburgers in every country in the world.  Gross national
product, wages, taxes, etc are brought to a common denominator in the
price of a Big Mac.

Therefore, divide the local price of a Leica by the local price of a
Big Mac and the result should be a constant number irrespective of
country or government.

This, of course, does not apply here in Sweden.
