Press packs arrived this morning so here's a few extra details on the stuff
we've heard coming.
The M6 0.58x.
Is available as a retro-fit adaptation to your M6 TTL cameras. The wide
angle viewfinder system can be exchanged with whatever is in your present
TTL camera. It seems to suggest it is not compatible with ordinary M camera
viewfinders.
(no availability listed - immediate?)
Tri-Elmar.
The mechanical mount is redesigned to allow a depth of field guage for all
three focal lengths. This has slimmed down the ribbed area for the focusig
ring which in turn has meant the re-introduction of the wonderful Leica
lens focusing tab, hooray! Let's hope this can be extended to other lenses
now.
The click stop settings have been improved, though I think this had already
been achieved with the later versions of the present version.
The front of the lens is slimmer, taking 49mm filters nopw, also an
aluminium lens hood and a filter adapater to allow a pola filter which
extends beyond the lens to be seen from the viewfinder.
Available Nov. 2000
28mm Summicron
Read Erwins post. there's a focusing tab.
Available Feb. 2001
The O Series Leica.
The lens fitted is newly computed (it suggests) and claims to be even
better than the last 50/3.5 Elmar that was offered.
Available November 2000
M-Winder.
Only 18.5mm high and cased in fiberglass it appears larger than I was
expecting along with the grip/battery compartment too.
Taking 2 x 123A lithium batteries it should be good for 100 36 exp. films
at moderate temperature (20 degrees). It's compatible back to the M4-2
series and offers two speeds, 1.5 or 3 fps. It is 'especially quiet' at the
slower speed setting.
Available Spring 2001.
A Projector rack for slide projectors
Available immediately.
New Trinovid Binoculars with close focusing range.
Sept 2000 and 2001 depending on model.
New Internet Home Site design
Promising 'more open approach'. There is a forum for discussion and
facilities for greater interaction.
There is also a new issue of the 'Leica World' ('the prize winning customer
magazine of the Leica Company') to coincide with Photokina.
Hope this helps,
Jem
