Eric, I think it is fair to say he truly was "devoted" to the Hassleblad.  
He recounts his relationship with the company and it's founder in depth in 
his autobiography.  This relationship was more than just user/vendor, but a 
friendship.

It may be fair to say that Adams did for the Hassleblad what Cartier-Bresson 
did for the Leica, and their relationships were similar.
